The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to work within our R&D team for the project to develop India’s first in vivo gene therapy for MPS-I disease. The role will provide a unique environment for designing, developing, and validation the gene therapy.
You will play a key role in leading the R&D study, both laboratory and in silico, together with the JRFs and the PIs. You will have the opportunity to work with various techniques, including but not limited to, cell culture, transfection, transduction, vector generation etc. You will also have the opportunity to teach PhD and visiting students about genetics.
You will support the conduct of ongoing clinical and R&D activities within the institute.
Qualifications
- PhD in Life Scinces/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ similar fields with hands on experience in cell biology culturing techniques and

The Person (Essential knowledge, skills and experience)
Candidate should have atleast 3 years of academic/ industry experience for the following:
- Good laboratory practice and good documentation practice
- Molecular biology techniques: cloning, vector designing, bacterial culture, plasmid preparation and characterisation
- Cell culture: handling of adherent cells, passaging, transfection, transduction
- Viral vector production and purification
- Analytical method: SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA, qPCR
The Post
- Duration: Full time, fixed term 3 years
- Renumeration: As per the GOG-DST pay-scale for RA.
