Introduction
An exciting series of opportunities have arisen for 5 positions within our R&D and diagnostics divisions. They are as follows:
1. Senior Research Fellow (Patient-parent trio WES in infertile males)
A position of a senior research fellow has opened to work within our R&D department team. This is a senior position for the recently funded project by the Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission on detecting the role of de novo mutations and discovery of novel genes associated with severe form of male infertility using whole exome sequencing in patient-parent trios.
You will play a key role in conducting molecular genetics lab work and liaise with the PI and co-Is of the project. You will have the opportunity to work with various techniques that are part and parcel of a molecular genetics and computational biology lab. You will also have the opportunity to teach visiting students about genetics and pursue a PhD degree.
You shall have either recently graduated with a PhD in genetics (specifically medical genetics/ applied genetics/ translational genetics/ infertility genetics/ molecular genetics) or have a minimum of 2 years of post MSc work experience in a diagnostics or R&D lab. You will support the conduct of ongoing clinical and R&D activities within the institute.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or a minimum of 2 years of post MSc work experience in biological sciences i.e. biotechnology, genetics or medical genetics (Essential)
- CSIR-NEET or GATE qualified (Desirable)

The person (essential knowledge, skills and experience):

- Understanding of infertility genetics, specifically male infertility
- Previous presentation of work at scientific meetings (Desirable)
- Previous research publications (Desirable)
Key accountabilities:
- Lead all aspects of laboratory work: including but not limited to sample preparation and storage, NGS library preparation, data analysis and reporting.
- Support R&D activities
- Participate and develop specialised R&D activities including ongoing and newly designed genetic assays
- Regular liaison with the leadership team and senior laboratory team members of the clinical genetics team to discuss ongoing labwork and next possible steps
The post:
- Duration: Full time, fixed term 2 years
- Salary: INR 40,600/- per month, as per the norms of DST and GSBTM

2. Senior Research Fellow (ONT Long read sequencing in ASD patients)
A position of a senior research fellow has opened to work within our R&D department team. This is a senior position for the recently funded project by the Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission on detecting complex structural variants using Oxford Nanopore based long-read sequencing technology and its role in autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
You will play a key role in conducting molecular genetics lab work and liaise with the PI and co-Is of the project. You will have the opportunity to work with various techniques that are part and parcel of a molecular genetics and computational biology lab. You will also have the opportunity to teach visiting students about genetics and pursue a PhD degree.
You shall have either recently graduated with a PhD in genetics (specifically medical genetics/ applied genetics/ translational genetics/ autism genetics/ molecular genetics) or have a minimum of 2 years of post MSc work experience in a diagnostics or R&D lab. You will support the conduct of ongoing clinical and R&D activities within the institute.
Qualifications:
- Atleast 2 years of post MSc work experience in biological sciences i.e. biotechnology, genetics or medical genetics.
- CSIR-NEET or GATE qualified (Desirable)

- Will be involved in laboratory work including but not limited to sample preparation and storage, ONT sequencing, data analysis and reporting.
- Support ongoing R&D activities
- Participate and develop specialised R&D activities including ongoing and newly designed genetic assays
- Regular liaison with the leadership team and senior laboratory team members of the clinical genetics team to discuss ongoing labwork and next possible steps

3. Laboratory Research Fellow
An exciting position of a research fellow has opened to work within our clinical diagnostics department, especially molecular genetics team.
You will play a key role in conducting molecular genetics and molecular cytogenetics genetics lab work and liaise with the clinical diagnostics heads. You will have the opportunity to work with various techniques and sample types that are part and parcel of a clinical genetics lab.
You shall have atleast 1 year of post MSc work experience in a diagnostics or R&D lab with a sound knowledge of cytogenetics and molecular genetics. You will support the conduct of ongoing clinical and R&D activities within the institute.
Qualifications:
- Atleast 1 year of post MSc work experience in biological sciences i.e. biotechnology, genetics or medical genetics.
- Previous genetics laboratory experience for atleast 1 year (Essential)
- CSIR-NEET or GATE qualified (Desirable)

- Will be involved in laboratory work including but not limited to sample preparation and DNA storage, PCR, microarray, Sanger sequencing, data analysis and reporting.
- Support ongoing clinical genetics and R&D activities
- Participate and develop specialised clinical genetics activities including ongoing and newly designed molecular genetic assays
- Regular liaison with the clinical genetics leadership team to discuss ongoing labwork and next possible steps

4. Junior Accounts Officer
A position of a junior accounts officer has opened to work within our accounting and finance department team. You will play a key role in conducting day to day accounting and finance related work within our institution.
You shall have atleast 1 year of post BCom work experience in industry. You will support ongoing accounts and finance related activities at the institute.

A position of a personal assistant to the Director has opened to work within our team. You will play a key role in conducting, communicating and arranging day to day activities occuring within our institution with the Directors.
You shall have atleast 1 year of post BSc work experience in the biotechnology industry.
